Working a summer job at the oncology clinic means you have the opportunity to work in a lovely and welcoming environment where you contribute to meaningful and safe patient care.
Role as a nurse:
- Onkology Clinic at Länssjukhuset Ryhov in Jönköping is seeking summer substitute registered nurses for the care unit and day care unit.
- Number of available beds in the care unit: 21. As a nurse, you work alternately with oncology patients and patients on palliative care. You will be part of a team including doctors, nurses, and nursing assistants working in a person-centered manner. You and a nursing assistant share the responsibility for a group of patients. Due to 24/7 care, shifts may include days, nights, and weekends.
- Day care unit treats around 50 cancer patients daily. As a nurse, your role is to be the primary nurse. You are responsible for planning and administering the patient's antitumor treatment. There are oncology specialist nurses and oncologists available to support your work. The shifts are during weekdays.
Summer jobs are temporary full-time positions. We need summer substitute nurses for weeks 26-33. Ideal if you can work most or all weeks. Region-wide training takes place along with these weeks and we appreciate if you can also attend training in spring, preferably at least four weeks. You will receive a salary during training and introduction.
Your future workplace:
Oncology Clinic receives cancer patients from the entire Jönköping county. The clinic provides non-surgical treatment for solid tumors. Patient monitoring and care for patients with treatment-related side effects, those requiring inpatient care during treatment, and palliative patients (regardless of diagnosis) are part of the clinic's operations. Approximately 2,200 patients are treated each year with approximately 22,000 treatments.
Our clinic operates in newly built and modern facilities with around 190 employees. The clinic includes inpatient ward, outpatient department, day care unit, radiotherapy, hospital physics department, clinical trials unit, and oncogenetic clinic. We value a work environment where new nurses feel safe and receive the help and support they need in their new profession.
Your profile:
We are looking for registered nurses or nursing students graduating by June 2025. You should work well with others, be engaged in patient interactions, and have the ability to work in a person-centered manner. Organized, efficient work approach, attention to detail, and personal suitability are highly valued.
